When Strand Comics wanted to launch
Rocky for the US market the Norwegian publishing
house asked Jens Peter de Pedro
to translate the strip into English. He might have been
contacted because of his extensive experience within
Hip-Hop culture or perhaps because of his close connections
to the US underground comic scene. But more likely it
was just because he's a friend of the creator of the
comic, Martin Kellerman. Good thing Jens Peter involved
Native New Yorker Sarah Jensen
for fact and language checking.
Jens Peter, also had a short, but glorious, stint at
translating Rocky for Spain's El Vibora magazine.
The English translations of Rocky were part of a search
for a US distributor. Thanks to, or despite of, Jens
Peter's translations Strand Comics has now closed a
deal with Fantagraphics,
publisher of Ghost World and many other classics!
